Limoux - the town

Limoux is an attractive bustling market town in the Aude Valley, Languedoc south of Carcassonne. It offers a variety of lovely cafes, restaurants, busy weekly market, museums, wineries and gorgeous scenery for cycling and walking.


Limoux is 22 km south of Carcassonne Airport which takes less than 30 minutes by car on route D118. Limoux has a train station with regular trains from Carcassonne for the price of 1 Euro.

Other airports in the area are Girona (Spain), Perpignan, Montpellier and Toulouse all within two hours drive from Limoux

Casa Rita is located in a quiet street in the historical centre of Limoux. Parking is not allowed in the street however there is ample parking on nearby Place de Maronniers and Place de Tivoli. Parking outside the house to unload luggage is fine.


Apart from being surrounded by gorgeous scenery the town prides itself for its Carnival from January to March and to be the origin of the first sparkling wine in France - Blanquette de Limoux made by monks since 1531

Casa Rita in Limoux is a perfect base to explore nearby ski fields, beaches, lakes, Cathar castles and historical sites such as the Abbeye of St Hillaire and La Cite in Carcassonne
